Builders & Trades

The work we’ve accomplished is thanks in large part to all our local Project Captains. Through continued collaboration, we can continue building a future without homelessness.

Our Model: Builders & Trades Are Central

On every HomeAid housing construction project, HomeAid acts as the liaison between the nonprofit that will operate the housing project once it’s completed and the builder that has generously agreed to support the construction of the project.

A Builder Captain is a housing developer that donates a portion of their time, labor, and services to build the housing project alongside HomeAid. Builder Captains contribute in-kind donations (partial or full) from their consultants, trade partners, and vendors for the project. In addition, they provide construction management, project management, and purchasing support.

Our unique model is rooted in the in-kind donations of labor and materials from our Builder Captains and their partners, vendors, and consultants. This allows for cost savings of 30% of market-rate costs or more which truly makes our model one-of-a-kind.
